How are documents counted?

Basically, anytime you send a document, that is counted as one new document. For team plans, the Multiple Uploads feature allows you to upload more than one file into a single document.  This document will have one audit trail and is counted as one document. The Package feature is coming soon, which allows you to send different documents in a single send. Each document in the Package is separate and has its own audit report. Each document in the Package is counted separately towards your usage. For Template Links, each time a recipient enters their email with consent, that counts as a document. For Bulk Signing, once the CSV file of recipients is uploaded and sent, a new document will be counted.

Are there document sending or storage limits?

All of Signority’s paid plans come with unlimited document storage (for as little as 8$/mo on the Personal Plan). The Free Plan is limited to 15 documents and audit trails stored.
With Signority’s Pro, Business and Enterprise, you can send as many documents as you want per month – no limits! The Personal Plan allows for 10 new document per month and the Free plan allows for 3.

Can signers use any device to sign?

Yes! Signority works on the web and only needs a browser – Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, on desktop, phone or tablet will all work! All your signers will need is an internet connection and email address.
When it comes to signing itself, signatures can be draw (by finger, stylus or mouse), typed, or a picture of their signature can be uploaded.

Do documents have time stamps or audit trails?

Yes. Signority tracks when actions are made on a document in each document’s audit log. Through the audit log, you’ll be able to track:

  • When a document was sent (the first send, and all subsequent sends if using a signing order)
  • When a document is viewed
  • When a document is signed
  • When a document is completed by all parties

The audit log will be appended to all documents by default, but you can choose to separate the final document and audit log into individual PDFs.
Digitally signed documents have their audit log embedded as a certificate within the PDF itself.

Are digital and electronic Signatures legal?


The Canadian government recognizes electronic signatures. It is up to each individual to exercise free-will when deciding whether to use them or not. The law will recognize these signatures as being valid unless a given law states otherwise.
The key with any signature is to show that you intended to make this signature. Therefore, Signority provides a legal medium to sign electronic documents given that it can permanently mark an electronic document with your signature.
In Canada, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) must be consulted for further requirements as to specific types of documents, such as affidavits or government documents. Generally, however, Part II of PIPEDA takes care not to prohibit electronic signatures and gives a broad definition of how one can legally sign electronically. Some provinces have equally legislated in the area of electronic signatures, such as Ontario’s Electronic Commerce Act, which recognizes that electronic signatures fulfill any legal requirements for signing general documents.
United States
In the United-States, the Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act (E-Sign Act) was inspired by the neutral approach favored by the UN Model Law on Electronic Commerce. The E-Sign Act generally allows for electronic signatures and prohibits the States from imposing restrictions on the technology used to sign electronically.
Any user of Signority can rest assured that electronic signatures are generally accepted in North America and globally wherever the UN Model Laws have had an influence.
It is recommended, however, to seek legal advice on signing certain types of official documents (ie. government documents) given that legislation and legal requirements are constantly changing.

Can a document be manipulated after the document is completed?

No. Once the document is completed and all signers have finished up, the document is locked and stored on Signority’s secure server, with an audit trail.
The audit trail is attached to the document and saves information about the documents life cycle. It records all edits, data entry and signatures (with timestamps).

How is a signer’s identity verified?

Signority will track the email address used by signers, as well as their location through IP addresses.
For additional security, email and text message password authentication can be added to documents. With email or SMS authentication turned on, signers must enter a code sent to them via email or phone text message to view and sign the document.

Signority uses multiple-level user ID authentication for login and secure communication with 256 bit SSL encryption protocol.

Do signers need to register for Signority?

No, signers don’t need to register for a Signority account before signing. Signers will be sent an invitation email to sign the document and only need to click a link to begin signing the document.

Do online signatures need to be identical to a handwritten version?

No, an electronic signature does not have to be identical to an handwritten signature. The law recognizes that electronic signatures will not be identical to handwritten signatures. What is critical is intent – knowing that the signer’s identity is verified and and that they approve of the document’s contents. Any mark made by a verified person is legally valid.
